Deborah is an Investment Associate and Chief of Staff to Scott Stanford at ACME.
Prior to joining ACME, Deborah spent 3.5 years in a variety of different investment and innovation roles at Samsung NEXT, primarily focused on investments in consumer and media tech. Before joining Samsung NEXT, Deborah backpacked around the world for two years, worked in a BD and strategy role for a social media and mapping startup, Visor Inc., and for a real estate startup, StreetEasy (acquired by Zillow Group, 2013). She started her career in sales and trading for Knight Capital Group, a financial services firm.
Deborah is a graduate of Harvard University, where she served as a member of the D1 Women’s Ice Hockey Team for four years. She is based in Chinatown New York.
Friends and family have grown accustomed to the fact that they never know where Deb is, and rarely know what she is doing. Sometimes she is at Popcaan’s UnrulyFest in Kingston Jamaica, other times she is completing an athletic feat, and one time she was inaccessible for 10 days while she participated in a silent meditation retreat.
Deb has worn many hats (both figuratively and literally) – to name a few: panamanian, baseball, snapback, fishing, helmet, toque. She probably has had some of the more random jobs in life including fanny pack saleswoman, mining intern, Bollywood extra, and Tiffany’s skateboard model.
She has spent years traveling the world in search of adventure, fun, and culture. Cheesy as it sounds, Deb is obsessed with life and new experiences. She is particularly drawn to places that are rich in diversity, like her home city of Toronto.
Deb is very curious, a total yes-woman, and the type of person for whom ‘best’ is a category. She has never met a sport, cigar, or person she didn’t like, and is constantly inspired by her friends and family. Just wait until you meet her grandmother Selma. “Manna,” as Selma is known, is a total legend.
